This partnership makes it easier to find charging stations with your leased car. It is an initiative that aims to get more people to choose electric cars.
– Thanks to our collaboration with Northe, our customers get a complete solution with access to a wide public charging network, as well as connected home and office chargers, says Anders Lindström, Scandinavian business developer at Autolease.
More and more companies are investing in electric cars, both for transportation and as company cars for their employees. At the leasing company Autolease, they see increased demand and expect that eight out of ten leased cars will be fossil-free by 2025.
– Everyone, both we and our customers, is interested in sustainability. It’s not something we take lightly, and we have a clear goal regarding zero-emission vehicles. This drives the transition but also places new demands on both us as a supplier and on the customers themselves, says Anders Lindström.
At the same time as interest in electric cars has increased, finding charging stations has been a challenge for corporate customers, he believes:
– The market in Sweden for charging has focused on private consumption, which is a bit unfortunate because it’s the corporate market that has the power to make the investments.
Additionally, the complexity of the administrative side of charging for corporate customers has been overlooked.
Therefore, Autolease is now initiating a collaboration with the Swedish tech company Northe, whose platform enables Autolease customers to charge publicly, at the workplace, or at home. The service includes a payment solution tailored for companies, which also includes the possibility of reimbursement for home electricity consumption.
– Society wants to make it obvious to choose an electric car over other cars, but that requires technical solutions that ensure charging doesn’t become an administrative burden, whether you’re charging at home or elsewhere, says Northe's CEO David Fauné, adding:
– For us, the partnership with Autolease is very important; we both focus on innovation and want to see the development of the electric car market.
There is a demand to simplify car charging, and together we are responding to that.Anders Lindström highlights simplicity as a crucial factor for customers:
– It makes it easy for the company to transition and manage administration, and it makes it easy for the driver to charge with more charging points available. One should not have to feel 'charging anxiety.
Both companies see the partnership as a starting point and hope more players will join:
– From our perspective, it's a lot about how we can find solutions together in the industry. The shift from gasoline cars to electric has happened incredibly quickly, but we also see that there needs to be greater consensus and collaboration between different players. What we can offer is a technology that facilitates this, says Fauné.
Lindström points out that joint investments create conditions for everyone in the electric car market to be satisfied. The platform also enables Autolease to deepen cooperation with existing suppliers and complement with new ones, he notes:
– The market has not been consolidated into one solution. Instead, different players have had their own solutions; we have car manufacturers who have built their own networks or distributors of charging networks who have gone their own way.
There has been a 'protectionism' that we now see breaking down, he says, adding:
– We are convinced that the more who cooperate, the greater the opportunities for a good deal for everyone.
